Getting into the sport…

Becoming a shooter can be a really rewarding and fun experience but will require some dedication on your behalf if you have a desire to become an owner of a firearm and not just a participant. To get into the sport it would be best to start by contacting your local club or getting in contact with the SSAA (Sports Shooting Association of Australia) who will be able to direct your through the legal process should you desire to shoot on private land or allocated hunting grounds. If that is not an option then your local police station will carry any paperwork needed for your license application.

Before making any large decisions it would be a good idea to try the sport first. Most clubs have open days or other option where the public can give the sport ago. There are also some completely public ranges that offer purchased packages in pistol or clay pigeon shooting.
